I'll give that a shot. I didn't want to use epoxy to avoid the gooping out. Contact cement works, if you can resist the urge not to fiddle with the strop.
@Mudman I used a serious amount of contact cement. I have also gotten a little itchy and have been picking at the edges.. I was concerned about how much a glue would penetrate the leather. One glue said that it expanded 3x it’s size into a object which made me think it might ruin the leather. I plan to spread a nice bead of contact cement around the whole edge when I get a chance.
The other pieces Hand Flaker using copper welding tip, furniture nut and piece of tree limb It may not look to fancy but it’s only version 1.
Flint knapping tool? There's no time for napping on this forum Don't be laying down on the job @RocketmanDane
Needed a scraper for my carbon steel cookware. Had this round of cedar laying nearby. A little batonning action to get a blank. Roughing it in. There we go. Couple hours spent doing something fun that works as intended. Not bad for a cooks knife eh?
Scott Larimore out of Whitefish Mt is the craftsman, you can find him under the name "A Seedy Lot" on BCUSA. Very easy man to like and work with.
Very cool. I'm slowly trying to piece together a full set of kitchen knives from different makers. At the moment I have a petty, and have an 8" chefs knife on the way.
too bad you have one one the way - I have a spare 8" made of CPM154 w/a Peter's HT made by James Terrio I would be willing to sell.
it's a nice knife and feels good in hand -- nice distal taper for balance, too. I just don't use that size for much - and I like the handle on my ESEE/Becker kitchen knives better. there are sharpening scratches on the blade, but those would be easy enough to buff off with a scotch brite belt.
Today I harvested some grapes, to aid with the fermentation of the persimmon fruits. This with some left over jams + sugar will be used for making home made Rakia. The persimmon is good to be harvested at the end of December, so at the begining of February the Rakia will be made. Luckily I still have some left over from last year and will purchase 20 liters of home made grape Rakia soon, to have "just in case"
Apparently I have done one to many projects on the front room table.. ( TV gets internet and YouTube which is great for “How to” videos and Large view instructions) SO she made me sand and refinish the table before anymore projects... It now looks like a whole new table
