I rock and roll a Cold Steel Natchez Bowie on my JAYJAYBRECONUK PATROL Vest. <<<thats on the left side. On the right side I rock a Husqvarna 3120 XP chainsaw with a 72" bar and skiptooth chain.

on the rear of my vest I have double Cutlass swords. I also double mount 2 Viking broadswords on each side of my vest.

In the middle I rock a 24 volt portable li-ion battery charger with a 24" x 24" solar panel mounted on my Team Wendy ballistic helmet. I like to clamp the Pos/Neg charging clamps onto my M.O.O.B.S. to give me that extra energy boost under full on battle combat stress. Couple that with my love for Amazon shopping for Japanese tentacle items at 0300 hours really gives me a energy boost.

The question is what you want the blade to accomplish, I like larger knives but the location you propose would not suit that as you note. An ESEE 3 or 4 would probably work, one with a partially serrated edge (which I generally DESPISE) would also be my choice as it is probably something you would need to used to disentangle yourself from something even to cut the webbing on your vest if you need to dump it quick. A personal favourite of mine is the Swamp Rat HRLM, about 1/2 way between and ESEE 3 and 4. This forum has NEVER been precious about discussing other brands either.

@SunVro , ok my humour aside.....,,what knives do I run on my chest rig or vest?

95% of the time I have a Bark River Recondo strapped onto the PALS/Molle grid.

I have very few knife sheaths that can directly mount into the pals/molle grid, and the Recondo is a favourite knife anyways

im not trying to sound like a john wick wannabe or anything, but id prefer the knife to be good for combat since it is going to be on my plate carrier but also good for what you mentioned ( cutting yourself free from your vest if need be ) ive thought about getting an esee 4 for that, i love the 5 after all, but i am going to look into what you guys mentioned here. thanks!

Lately I've been carrying an esee 3 on my sar vest behind a pouch. Big enough to do most chores without issue but low profile enough to not scare the hell outta people.

I don't carry a knife at all on my chest rig. I have no reason to.

I personally carry a ESEE 4 in a stock sheath attached to the bottom of my HPG kit bag. Why? Because I can always leave it there. I also like to carry a knife with built in strap cutter and blunt tip. (Benchmade rescue type or Gerber rescue type). I will likely swap them out for the Izula rescue style if I really need to start carrying one again.

If you are talking more with body armor type chest rig I do not carry one on the rig. I carry a traditional style KaBar with rubber grips on the armor itself. Not as a fighting type knife but as a multipurpose knife. And I have used the heck out of it!
