    So I’m wanting to get back into archery. Found a good deal on eBay on a vintage bear kodiak hunter. It’s used but in good shape.
    I need to get a string, anyone know the length I might need or the best type of string? Thanks

    A few other peculiar things;

    What it this? It’s on the front below the hand grip...

    On the rail, I’ll get sight pins, is this thing bent or just needs tightened?

    I’ll need new felt for the rest but are these cracks concerning???

    Honestly, I'd take these pics into the nearest archery shop to have a tech look it over. Last year I picked up my first bow, and although it was a good deal for the bow, I ended up spending more in parts, adjustments, and labor than I paid for the thing up front.

    I'd definitely recommend looking over some new recurve bows as well. There's a lot of decent options under 200 bucks, and most shops will set up the bow to you and cut your arrows for free if you buy from them.

    Yea that’s the general consensus I guess I’m just not meant to get back into archery lol I’ll see what I can do with this bow but the nearest pro shop is like 3 hours I think. I may need to look. I didn’t have a lot to spend, this sadly was not as described but I’ll try to get my money back

    I don't enjoy saying this but I would not shoot that bow. It looks very rough and abused. That metal bracket doesn't look correct. Looks like it is originally for something else that has nothing to do with archery.

    Looks like it was treated abit rough, but that doesn't mean it can't be put back into service. The sight pin rail is bent and loose from what I can see, and that's a threaded accessory port below the grip for stabilizer or fishing reel attachment.
    You can use industrial Velcro (the soft half) for the arrow rest, that's what I use and it out lasts the felt.
