I’m not a fan of the 4, but would love a stainless 3. Any chance of seeing one this year? With us finally starting the long journey of moving to Florida, I’m wanting one for the humid and salty environment. Especially for kayaking.

A stainless 3 has a lot more use for me then the 4. I need a stainless fixed blade for fishing and the thinner steel on the 3 is better imo

Yeah baby, I'm thinking a 3HM in AEB-L would be pretty deluxe.

I would like a 3 in stainless. Also a CR2.5 would be nice.

I’d really like something even NEAR stainless like 3V. It takes a lot to rust it with proper HT and finish and it takes a beating and comes back for more.

I'd be all over 3V. I love that steel.

I like the idea for the stainless 3 that seems to be my most carried model in the esee lineup

Nooooo! @CWB .....no need for stainless.... let that Esee Carbon Steel develop a wicked patina! Use it hard, wipe it dry at the end of the day and oil your steel.

I have had a handful of folders w/ stainless steel rust in salty environments, even if i rinsed them thoroughly after exposure. I finally picked up a spyderco salt 2 and have had no problems with it. (Even after not rinsing it after multiple days of exposure). Since this is a wish thread id love to see esee collaborate with spyderco and do an esee3 in spyderco's H1 steel....maybe let eric and/or sal add some of their designs to the sheath so they feel esee isnt just using them for their steel lol.

My thinking is an ESEE-3 made from plastic would hold up to salty conditions better since good heat treatable stainless steel has enough carbon to eventually rust a bit.

That would be perfect for me. I only use my knives to open packages. In salty environments i do the same, just on the beach. Lol

Actually I could 3D print the plastic ones and sell them direct. Of course price would probably be around 400 each.

400 is a little steep but a 3d printed ESEE is a good idea. Id use them to help train my little ones who arent quite ready for a sharp esee

You know that if Mike reads this he is going to have a stroke, right? Spyderco has been using H1 for two decades now and people are still arguing over whether it's rustproof and what the hardness is, etc.
You think the dumbasses that ESEE CS have to deal with now are bad? If they made something out of H1 they'd be inundated with broken knives that customers were trying to "work harden" because morons can't understand that grinding serrations into a blade is different that just sharpening a plain edge over time.

That being said, I'm definitely an H1 fan. The PE models really need a good regrind to bring out the best in them, but the SE ones are great as is.

@Jeff Randall you're thinking in the wrong direction. The next ESEE should be rust proof, TSA compliant and not likely to be banned by California soon.

Do extra child survival classes where you just send them out looking for arrow heads and bones. You can even charge a premium because it'll be Made in Alabama from locally sourced materials.

All stainless will rust but a lot "less" than 1095. I'm tired of constantly wiping my carbon steel blades.to keep them from rusting. That's why I'm sell off about every one of them.
