That pic was right after a range day. Not how she is kept. I have a Gemini Customs sight I put on mine. Red fibre optic.
That was the first thing I thought when I saw it. I had a chance to buy a S&W Model 10 once that was set up for PPC. That stuff was a little before my time, so I had no idea what I was looking at. Just that it looked funky but had a nice feel and smooth action.
Oh it's modified, the trigger is unbelievable. Same revolver on the top in the second picture, only stripped down. I traded my M&P R8 for it
I've always been a Ruger guy. So without combing through the endless S&W revolver variations, and other than a couple J-frame optoins I'm aware of, do they make any models these days with out that ridiculous internal lock?
New Altamont grip for the SP101 .357. I like it a lot more than the stock grip - more hand-filling and a better angle.
How's the trigger on the .22 sp101? I really like that gun but if the trigger is as heavy as the .22 lcrs I'd probably pass and get the .327mag version
It's on the heavy side, for sure - more so than I like on my centerfire wheelguns. But being a rimfire in this case, I don't mind that. A quick disassembly and cleaning will go a long way toward smoothing it out (and easier to do a on the Ruger SP/GPs than any other revolver I know of). However, if you want to lighten things up, you can get a Wilson Combat trigger return/mainspring kit for about $8 and it will make a noticeable difference.
"However, if you want to lighten things up, you can get a Wilson Combat trigger return/mainspring kit for about $8 and it will make a noticeable difference." I'm gonna do some digging and see if Wilson makes a similar kit for my .22LR LCRx 3".
Unfortunately, I don't think they make a spring kit for the LCR/x. https://shopwilsoncombat.com/Revolver-Accessories/products/174/ but Wolff does: https://www.gunsprings.com/RUGER/LCR, LCRx/cID3/mID52/dID458
Bumping this thread, want to see some more revolvers. I have been back and forth on which ruger I want. I feel at this point I am very proficient with autoloaders (there is always room for improvement) and I really want to learn revolvers. I started out as wanting the redhawk .45acp/.45colt, then to the sp101 4.2inch in .327 and now I think I'm finally set on the sp101 4.2 in .357. It strikes the balance between being able to carry it, ammo availability and still being able to load some hot .357 for woods duty. Also I am moving to the Texas panhandle in less than a month and I really want the ability to have a round of snake shot in the cylinder when I'm out in the canyons. (I love snakes and would only shoot one as a last resort) I know @Hammer has the sp101 4.2 .22 and the sp101 .357 snub nose, any thoughts on the 4.2 in .357? I'll shoot mostly .38s for training and practice but definitely want the ability to load .357mag. Also do you guys think the 4.2 inch sp101 match champion is worth an extra 60 or so dollars over the standard version?
