Once again im down to 2 ESEEs. (5 and izzy--will always own an izzy)... Had to recently sell my beloved 3 for bills... I got a chance to handle the pr4 from a passaround and really liked it,although it felt slightly thin. Im thinking that when I eventually fill the gap that the 3 filled, I'll try a pr4 with the tkc handles
The Handle is excellent. It Very functional. It is deceivingly comfortable. Plenty of after market options are available as well. Go for it. FYL I wear large or extra large size gloves.
I added the photos below PR4 with Orange TKC scales in Orange TKC kydex on TKC leather drop loop I think I have found my new favorite set up Slowly trickled the pieces together buying 2nd hand where I could save some money .So it’s not as a expensive set up as it might seem The one change / addition I will probably make is adding a retention snap. Not sure I want to risk my leg
I really like the looks of the stock scales. But having broken one to many fingers it was almost impossible for me to get a good/safe grip. With the TKC scales I can grab on to them like I want to / should. Thanks! I’m hoping so I’ve got some small changes to do, but over all the majority of the setup is there. It may be a little hard to see in the photos. But one thing I did that I think really makes a difference is tapering the length of spacers. The rubber spacers at The top are 2x as thick as the bottom. This give it a slight lean away from my body and makes it a lot easier to unsheath without snagging on any clothing.
@BlueDogScout I’ve got to say it doesn’t just look good, IMO it functions as well as it looks. It has taken no less then 9 months to piece It all together and get it the way I wanted. But it was worth the wait IMO. Plus I am addicted to Orange! Plus if I set it down I don’t have to worry about loosing it. (Why most of my knives are orange in some way )
Oh I understand the orange addiction... from my tarp to my sleeping gear everything is orange. I wear orange everyday the Japanese call me orange guy lol the PR4 is a darn near perfect knife. I like the orange sheath and the handles it’s tempting to try the TKC scales again lol
