Sure is. Not easy, but it's doable. I just need to use my tiny hammuh.

if you need more ideas, this is the one I hammered out back in 92 at an SCA event.
    about 10" OAL.

the notch by the tail is where I had the loop the first time and decided it was too tight.
at some point I need to heat it back up and reapply beeswax as it's wearing thin.
for the beeswax scorch, if the smoke self-ignites, the metal is still too hot. you want a black heat around 400f.

if you're full of self-hate, #3 rebar works well for these -- gives a nice texture on the sides of the handle after flattening, but rebar sucks to forge, because it's "gluey" due to the lack of consistency in the alloy.

fun to forge with - mild hex stock. twists automatically look better, and if you hammer down on a point, it flattens out perfectly.

    good luck!

Anybody have any updates on this venture? I'd love to have a forged fork as well

worlds ugliest campfire tool -- fork, spoon, caplifter - all in one - it was a demo piece for several different techniques.
the one below it was my first attempt at drifting and stretching out a hole - I failed, but it still opens bottles!

I plan to make some, but have been extremely tied up with family stuff for the past year. Hopefully early next year I can tackle some forging stuff.

If I remember correctly, in the movie- he used his fork to also strike up a fire.

    10-4!

I understand being busy, sir. Whenever you get around to it I will be more than interested in picking one up. If it makes a difference I dont really have a preference on whether or not it can throw sparks. Just really want a rustic style, forged meat fork for camp

I don't think throwing sparks was a criteria, but the idea really appeals to me. But of course that would mean I'd have to use carbon steel.

The fork is what really catches my interest, more than a spoon. I've used two prong forks a few times, and realized- this is why modern forks have multiple points. haha it might help slow me down- vs being a slob.

Hey Bushy I'm actually working on a 2pronged carving fork/multi use prototype based off a set of GB6HM scales and a carving fork I already have ;)
    Think carving fork/fishing spear/fero rod scraper/straighting tool/scraper o_O
