Just back from Buck's Spa treatment. They even threw in a nice new leather sheath for free after looking at my ratty old sheath.

I bought this 110 in '71 and carried it for years, in Africa, Europe, and the US. I lost track of it 20 years ago but found it a couple of months back when my Mom asked me to get something out of the attic. I had an old storage trunk up there that I had completely forgotten about.

^ Hey @olywa, has Buck finally gone back to using the loop style belt loops on the 110 sheaths, or are they still just a flat band of leather? I haven't had the opportunity to check out one of the newer ones (post 2018).

Decided to put my 110 through some basic woods tests tonight, and for a folder, it did pretty damn well.

First made a small feather on some dry Fir, which is what I'd normally knock out to start any average fire, be it with a ferro rod, lighter or matches. Just something to take that initial flame/spark.

Then I figured I'd see how it does at making something bigger, so I grabbed a chunk of Red Cedar drift I harvested a few years back. This split is from a small log, about 5' long, 14" wide.

It worked just fine, albeit a tad uncomfortable at times. Due to the handle lacking a bit of thickness I'm normally used to, my middle finger began digging into my palm pretty good. But honestly, other than that, it did really well.

Also does great with small stuff.

And finally I just knocked out a simple stake out of some dry Maple. Worked just fine.

I've always been a fan of Buck's 420HC, and I've used it for years now. But something I feel the need to mention is the ease of which you can get the edge back. It would still cleanly slice paper after use with no flat spots, rolls, etc, but 15 seconds on a strop and it shaved effortlessly again.

There's definitely something to be said for steels which are easy to sharpen after use.

It's a loop. Well sewn both top and bottom.

It's just this little steel patio table I have out back, I generally use it for pics because I like the looks of it. Makes for a nice background when I'm just bumming around the house, messing with blades at my wood stack and whatnot.

You know what would look nice? Copper bolsters instead of brass

Appropriate that this thread is bumped. The 110 is the quintessential Christmas gift.

Agreed, I'd love one of the new 110 pro's with the S30V blade and brushed nickel/BLACK G10 handles ;);)

Here is my 112 that I’ve had since I was a kid.

This knife permanently resided in my back right jeans pocket since I was about 11 or 12 and all through my teenage years. The worn in outline of the knife was visible on all my Levi’s and was the topic of many a conversation.

I can remember gutting a white tail with it at a keg party in high school that an old lady hit on the highway on the way in (in Ontario you can keep or give away your roadkill). This certainly solidified my reputation as a redneck.

Sometime early on I decided it needed a lanyard so I drilled a hole in the rear bolster. Unbeknownst to me at the time is that this is where the internal lock spring pin resides, my drill hole cut the spring pin in half rendering the lock useless.

I felt like a bit of a fool, but wrote Buck a letter and sent it to the Buck factory and they fixed it for me free of charge!

I’m not sure why it says “Custom” on the blade and not the model number, it was bought at my local hardware store (Canadian Tire) and not the custom shop (anyone know??).

This limited edition (250 made) and out-of-production 110 is very high on my wish-list:

    - drop point
    - S30V steel
    - black C-Tek handle
    - copper bolsters
