Getting ready to take our annual family road trip next week. We decide to take to Kids to see the Smokey Mountains in pigeon forge Tennessee. As you can imagine the first thing that came to mind was we need to stop at SMKW . Then the wife says, well that works out great you can just pick out your Father’s Day gift there. Woohoo. Not sure what I’m going to get but I know it’s going to be a Esee. I’m thinking izula ll but not sure. Also going to swing into the Maker’s Mark Distillery. Everything else is just detail now ha ha. Get ready TN here I come.
Plan on getting there early and staying late, there is a lot of wonder to take in. Don't forget the Lodge and Coleman outlets just a stone throw away.
My wife and kids just got back from there last night. We rented a cabin for 7 nights and had a blast. We went to SMKW yesterday and my wife bought me my first Esee yesterday for fathers day. I picked out the izula 2 and while I’ve not gotten to use it yet, I can tell I’m gonna love this knife for edc. I had a difficult time deciding between it and the camp lore rb3. The rb3 will probably be my next esee unless i go with a 4 or 5. I’m definitely hooked on Esee now though. If you’re looking for something different and really fun to do with your family then I’ll make a couple suggestions on things my family really enjoyed. In pigeon forge there is an escape room called Kryptology, it was a fam favorite for us. Also, the mountain roller coaster in pigeon forge is awesome and much better than the ine in Gatlinburg. http://kryptology.us/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI3p2al4_K2wIVEttkCh2jLgKIEAAYASAAEgLrefD_BwE
Been to the Smoky Mountains twice so far and love it! Be sure to post up pictures! I'm sure your plans are already set so something to keep in mind for next time... Mammoth Cave only adds an extra hour of travel time and is pretty cool. My fiance and I went on the 4 hour caving tour and it was AWESOME! Got to put on the jump suit, knee pads, hard hats, and crawl through the cave . The Mount La Conte hike in the Smokies is a great one but again, probably not for kids... Enjoy!
Strolled through there today, because yesterday went longer than planned. Held the fabled new JG5 in my hands, and while I'm sure it is fantastic in its own right, that PR4 has won my heart. And my wife was so proud of me for not purchasing it! She doesn't realize I'm waiting for the kydex sheath....
Well we made our way down. Today we hit up the markers mark distillery and SMKW. Two awesome places!!! The distillery was very cool and I was able to dip my own bottle. SMKW is HUGE!!!! They have everything that’s sharp and pointy. The kids loved all the mounts and the wife and I picked up some kitchen knives. My son went nuts in the relic area, I think he bought one of everything . I hit the Esee area, sweet display. Here are some pictures. I was able to pick out my Father’s Day presents early too
Well we made it back. Had a great time! Good people, good food, and family not sure what more you could ask for. The smokies were beautiful, truly humbling to be in their presence.
Glad you guys enjoyed your stay in TN! SMKW is a sensory overload the first time you see it. Actually it still is no matter how many times you go there. I've bought stuff and drooled over other things since they were in their old building. Somehow they have maintained consistently friendly, helpful and patient staff through all those years.
So I made it to the promise land today, even talked a guy out of a Tops into an Esee 3. He had a bunch of questions but I guess I answered enough he thanks me and bought the 3.
