Just wanted to see if anyone else has messed around with natural containers. Birch bark bowls, baskets, gourde containers, coal burned bowls/cups, clay pots, arrow quivers, etc. Always think it's cool to see what folks come up with. This is what I'm working on now, a gourde canteen/water bottle. (Also making a carrying net for it) Fun project for sure. Anyway post them up if you got 'em! IMG_2775.JPG

Wild Bill has made some leather wax coated flasks that are pretty cool.

Ill echo whays been said... great thread!!

Weve done some bamboo water containers and bark baskets at the advanced bushcraft course. Its a no joke serious skill and not an easy task. We broke four bark baskets in the folding before we got one wonky looking one.

Once the sun comes up ill snap some shots.

Awesome! Can't wait to see them. Yeah I did a Palm basket, and although it worked, ended up looking strange...lol

Caleb, I have decided you are a younger James Gibson. That man can do anything when it comes to primitive skills and your work is just as amazing. Thanks for being here.

I've done the bamboo thing, but I have some gourds ready to go for bowls and bottles. I also want to get into pine needle baskets. Our new house has numerous 25-35 foot pines to supplies are plentiful.

Here is a gourd with a pine needle rim.
    Probably more artsy than practical.

Man I need to attend some of your events! I thought they were all just rappelling and climbing... after cutting a hand off climbing isn’t my strong suit.... if you guys do cool primitive bushcraft stuff I am completely down!

Survival and bushcraft are our main courses. I pretty much gravitate to rope work, rescue stuff and land nav. If it's not that then you'll probably find me sitting in a Lazy Boy chair somewhere, but Patrick, James, Shane and others are all over the survival and wilderness skills classes.

Well it looks like I’ll have to find time to attend a course! You can never learn too much.

Yes, as much as I don't like making suitcases out of pine needles, I have to say when you get our group of primitive and wilderness skills guys together, they're pretty awesome.
