The second round of samples fixed the thickness but they forgot to make the changes to the guard and grip I wanted, so I'll have to wait a couple weeks until SHOT and its post-show madness have died down and have them make some new ones. I'll post up some detail shots of these ones, though, when I get the chance. With the thickness corrected they're lightning fast, at a mere 1lb 12oz.

Behold: The Kingfisher. Final version will have hickory scales with iron rivets and the guard will have a slightly different shape at the top of the knuckle bow, but it's pretty close now.

It's frickin' lethal. And providing that no surprises pop up we're shooting for a price point around $35.

The folks in El Salvador are now working on the handle/guard revisions as originally requested. Fingers crossed that they get it right in one go--I'd like these to be the last pre-productions.

    Nice!

Wont get those into Canada though....the enclosed handle classifies it as a "trench knife".....(prohibited entry into Canada )

Swords and machetes with knuckle bows are available in Canada without issue...I don't think anyone would classify a 24" blade as a "knife". :p

Really looking forward to these, thinking there might be some available by the end of March? I'd love to gift one to my buddy for his birthday

Zombies that 'ent zombies yet. It's a hypothetical situation that one desperately hopes never becomes thetical, but that's what it's designed to be able to handle effectively should the need ever arise. Modern clothing and improvised armaments were taken into consideration when optimizing its build. In a "take the head or it won't die" zombie situation you'd want a more cleaver-like cutting sword like a falchion, but when dealing with "science zombies" that still need muscles to function using blood to carry energy and so one, this would be able to readily render those muscles inoperable and perforate the fuel lines, so to speak. The name, of course, is a play on words.

The review sample has cleared Canadian customs and is continuing on its way to the destination. One of the tracking updates said the package was received in damaged condition going from one Canada Post location to the other, but I'm hoping that just means the external packaging. The internal packaging was pretty dang thorough so hopefully it didn't manage to jut right through the various protective measures I wrapped it in. It's got quite the point on it and it was sent fully sharpened. :p

Trench knives are fine. It's possible for a trench knife to be considered "brass knuckles" if they are the kind with finger rings. But that's just a brush guard.

As noted above, it made it into Canada just fine. :p Will post more when I have further details. Still trying to get a few things pinned down. :)

I wonder if they'll let me into Scotland with one of these.

Depends on who's at the gate William Wallace or Henry the 8th.

I bet it'd be fine. It's a machete. Just don't go traipsing about town with it. :)

In that case, I'll just have mine shipped after I arrive -- save some weight on the ship. ;)
